The Institute of Energy Studies and Research (IESR) plays a strategic role in advancing research, innovation, capacity building, and technology development within the energy sector. As a center of excellence, IESR is committed to generating practical solutions that enhance operational efficiency, energy reliability, sustainability, and resilience in the evolving energy landscape.

Research and innovation are central pillars of IESR’s mandate. Through collaboration with utilities, academia, government institutions, development partners, and industry stakeholders, the Institute develops and promotes innovative approaches aimed at addressing emerging challenges in the power and energy sector.

The Research Department leads research stewardship, innovation management, and collaboration across the energy sector. Key responsibilities include:

Innovation Challenges and Hackathons — The Institute organizes innovation challenges that encourage participants to develop practical solutions to real-world energy sector problems.

Research Collaborations — IESR partners with universities, research institutions, utilities, and technology providers to conduct joint research and pilot projects.

Capacity Building and Training — The Institute offers specialized training programs in innovation management, design thinking, emerging energy technologies, project management, and ISO 56001 Innovation Management Systems.

Pilot Projects and Demonstrations — IESR supports proof-of-concept and pilot implementation projects to validate innovative technologies and operational improvements before large-scale deployment.
