Utility Management and Consultancy (UMC) Department

The Utility Management Consultancy (UMC) comprises three key business sections: Consultancy Services, Pole Leasing, and Meter Central Laboratory.

The primary mandate of UMC is to support Kenya Power's revenue diversification strategy by developing and delivering value-added services to both internal and external customers.

Consultancy Services — Specialized technical and advisory services for internal and external customers.

Pole Leasing — Management and optimization of pole infrastructure for telecommunications connectivity.

Meter Central Laboratory — KENAS-accredited testing and calibration laboratory operating to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Consultancy Services

  • Sensitizing large power consumers on energy efficiency and energy management practices.
  • Supporting the Government and other agencies in the implementation of energy conservation initiatives and projects.
  • Promoting electric cooking (e-cooking) solutions as part of the clean energy transition agenda.
  • Implementing proof-of-concept initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and innovation.
  • Overseeing the implementation and operationalization of the Utility-Run Super ESCO model.
