About
The Standards Department is responsible for the development, maintenance, and enforcement of technical standards that ensure the safe, reliable, efficient, and sustainable operation of Kenya Power's electricity network. In addition, the Department implements and monitors management system standards that drive quality assurance, foster continuous improvement, and support the adoption of industry best practices throughout the Company.
The Department is headed by the Manager, Standards and comprises three sections:
Standards Development
The Standards Development Section provides leadership in the development and maintenance of technical standards and specifications to ensure the safe, reliable, efficient, and sustainable design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Kenya Power's electricity network. Over the years, engineers in this section have developed and maintained technical requirements for the Kenya Grid through collaboration with other Kenya Power departments and relevant stakeholders in the electricity sector. This has culminated into a portfolio of over 500 standard documents.
